Cornish Delights Beckons For The Nuttalls |

The Valley Mixed Classic |

FRED Nuttall (Alder Root Golf Club) and his wife Wendy
(Birchwood) enjoyed their first-ever big win together at sunny Withington in
the WGTB Mixed American Greensome. They racked up an impressive 41 points to win a break at The Valley near Truro in Cornwall, a fabulous place to enjoy all the delights of Cornwall. Next in to win a golfing break at Macdonald Hill Valley Golf and Country Club were Algarve holiday group stars Neil and Carol Hood from Trentham Park enjoying their WGTB debut. They too put in a great display to finish as runners-up with 39 points. Ian and Liz Jackman (Sale) were first out and held the lead for a long time but had to be content with third place as a reward for their 37 points and they too won a great prize of a stay and golf at Marriott Worsley Park. |

Denton’s Leslie and Jean Turner will enjoy a meal for two
with a bottle of wine at Mario’s Restaurant in Oldham after finishing fourth
on 36 points and completing the major prizes were another WGTB debut pair in
Andrew and Mary Bryden of Bramhall who were pipped on a cpo on 36 points but
were delighted to each receive £25 vouchers from Hookers Golf. Andrew added more prizes by winning the nearest the pin for men on the eighth hole and Styal’s Sue Williams won the ladies nearest the pin on the fourth hole. |

Third Place For Ian & Elizabeth Jackman |

Only two ‘Two’s were posted from Tony and Liz Peters of
Portal and Frank Dawber and Margaret McIntyre of Haigh Hall with each pair
receiving 30 balls. Among a quality field was Oldham’s Alan Squires who will shortly be representing England Seniors in the European Seniors Championships in Slovenia. Alan is also the Lancashire Seniors champion and recently won his club championship for a 22nd time. There was a full house of over 80 players representing 25 clubs. The Withington course provided a good challenge and a very fair test of golf and was in splendid condition and as always the off-course reception and organisation was of the highest quality to make this a real day to remember for all concerned. |
