BIRCHWOOD Golf Club’s
new professional Carl Edwards (pictured) is looking forward to the challenge
of taking over as head professional at the progressive Warrington club. Carl 27, began his golf as a junior at Denbigh Golf Club and made his mark at junior and amateur level in North Wales and was a member of the Welsh Development squad. He then studies at the University of Staffordshire gaining a degree in Leisure Economics and was President of the University’s golf team for two years during 2000/01. He took his PGA examinations while he was the assistant pro at Rhuddlan Golf Club before becoming the head professional at St Melyd Golf Club. Moving from his Welsh roots is a big challenge for Carl but one which he is relishing. Carl said: "I am completely refitting the pro shop and eventually hope to have a custom-fit and video teaching analysis area to give me the opportunity to develop teaching and retail outlets for members and other customers. |

"Birchwood has a great
reputation for developing junior golfers and they have a great role model in
Phil Archer who is enjoying outstanding success on the European Tour after
beginning his professional golf at Birchwood where he is still attached. "I will also be looking to play in regional professional and Alliance events whenever possible so it promises to be a busy time ahead.
