Linda Ready For A Second Stint With OLGA

SADDLEWORTH Golf Club’s new Lady Captain Linda Newman will be setting a new record this season in the Oldham Ladies Golf Association as she has previously been the Lady Captain at Oldham Golf Club where she was Lady Captain in 2003.

Marjorie Bray the OLGA secretary said: “We believe that Linda is the first lady to be a Lady Captain twice in OLGA.

“There may have been some who have done the job at two clubs, but not both in OLGA.

“We get great support from our five member clubs for our competitions and we began the season with Past Captain’s Dinner at Oldham Golf Club.

“Their member Jane Antrobus, who is a superintendent in the GM Police gave a wonderful after-dinner speech to set the season off in style.

“Our fixtures begin with the Chronicle Cup at Brookdale on May 30, the Past Captains competition followed by afternoon tea at Saddleworth on September 7 and the Joan Hirst Charity Team Cup at Crompton and Royton on September 21.
