Janet Steps Up To New Role

ROCHDALE Golf Club legend Janet Collins (pictured) has served the Manchester and District Ladies Golf Association as a committee member for two years and as secretary for the past six years with great success.

Her great service to the historic association has been recognised by her appointment as President of the MDLGA in 2015.

Janet began her golf at North Manchester in 1978 and moved to Rochdale in 1983.

Her committee work at Rochdale included roles as handicap secretary and social secretary and she was the Rochdale Lady Captain in 2006.

Her best handicap has been 11 and over the years she has enjoyed plenty of success with the club teams, including winning the MDLGA Bell Cup, and also in individual competitions.

Janet said: "It has been a privilege and an honour to work for the MDLGA, which is one of the biggest and oldest golf associations of its kind in the country, and I am looking forward to the role of President in 2015.

"Rochdale will host the Bell Cup final on September 4 2015 and the other competitions are The Bunty Booth on June 5 at Withington, Lloyd Jones Scratch and Challenge Cup at Astbury on July 17, the Team competition at Bramhall on August 7 and the Greensome at Pleasington on September 11.

"Succeeding me as secretary is Sue Milroy of Wilmslow GC."

It will be a big year for Rochdale as another of their top ladies Brenda Flett will be the President of Lancashire Ladies
