Alliance Presidents Day at Denton |
|
Mike Retains His Crown |
|
|
Denton professional Mike Hollingworth retains his title as the Order of Merit winner in the Manchester Alliance picking up his fifth title in the order of merit. With the title already secured before Presidents Day it was fitting that Mike picked up the trophy at his home club Denton where the full field enjoyed a superbly presented course for the climax of the Alliance season. Alliance President John Dowd naturally claimed all the credit for the superb weather condition which added greatly to the occasion.

The leading professional on the day was
Stands Mark Hancock who clinched the trophy with a fine 67 three shots clear

Amongst the new recruits to the Alliance
this season was Carl Kennedy from Shrigley Hall who showed his liking for
the winter events with three top finishes plus a runners-up slot during the
mid-season. Not surprisingly he demonstrated his liking for the big occasion by taking the coveted Presidents Prize carding a fine 69 a shot better than Alliance regular Ged Gaffney from Bolton Old Links and two ahead of Terry Pottage from the host club Denton. Carl is now setting his sights on a final appearance in the MEN-WN Trophy which will be held at Marple Golf Club in September, providing his game and handicap holds up during the K.O. Rounds leading up to the final.
