Vinny looks forward to a great year

ACTION man Vinny Doyle is looking forward with great anticipation to his new role as Captain of the biggest golf alliance in the country.

Vinny, who is a keen and competitive single-figure player, was delighted to be asked to be the new Captain of the Manchester Alliance which has players from well over 110 clubs enjoying its weekly winter competitions and the hugely successful and popular inter club summer knock outs.

Vinny began his golf in the late 1980’s at Blackley GC after enjoying many years playing football and cricket to good levels as well as hockey and squash and had a wonderful time there with the highlight being Captain in 2002.

He played a part in some of Blackley’s successes in Alliance club competitions and appreciates fully how much they are enjoyed by the participants.

He recently joined Manchester Golf Club and looks forward to an equally happy time there.
 
Vinny said: "I have played regularly in the Alliance for the past four years and it is a fabulous organisation summed up by its motto ‘Friendship through golf’ and gives good, keen competitive golf through the winter months on a variety of courses with all of the competitions being superbly organised.

"I have been fortunate to be a regular partner of Pike Fold pro Grant Hamerton and last year enjoyed on taking on the role of treasurer as well as looking after the Alliance website.

"I am also a member of the Lancashire GA executive and for my sins a keen supporter of Bury FC though we did win promotion last season.
