Alliance at Wychwood Park - Sponsored by Steve Hamer of Titleist

EUROPEAN Tour star Phil Archer was delighted to be able to make a rare appearance in a Manchester Alliance event and meet up with many of his old friends at the testing course of Wychwood Park.

And Phil showed his class by posting the top individual pro score of 41 points.

But Phil and his amateur partner Anton Johnson from Warrington had to give best in the pro am competition to home pair Frank Kiddie and Trevor Brennand with a fine haul of 45 points with Phil and Anton a point in arrears.

There was a logjam of three pairs on 42 points with Brookdale duo Tony Cuppello and Peter Buckley getting the nod after a cpo from Leigh’s Andrew Baguley and Steve Dagger and David Smith and Lee Parr (Swinton Park).

In the am am section Turton duo Gordon Everest and Alan Bullock led in with 44 points ahead of Ashton-on-Mersey’s young guns Oliver Smith and Ollie Panteji 43 and Wychwood’s David Marchant and Barry White 41.

Alliance at Dunscar Sponsored By Brian Hopkins

CHEADLE pro Anthony Millar was the star of the show as the Manchester and District Alliance played the weekly Betterball Stableford at Dunscar.

He took the top individual pro spot on 40 points, two clear of Alliance life member and European Seniors Tour pro Denis Durnian 38.

Then Millar took the honours in the pro am section as he partnered Cheadle colleague John Hodges to 43 points to win on a cpo from Turton duo Andy Green and Mark Gregory.

Next in on 42 were the Fairfield regulars Steve Pownell and John Bell with 42 points.

There was the sting in the tail in the am am section as last pair in Brian Hopkins and Mike Powell of Shrigley Hall posted a superb 45 points to pip Turton’s Adam Bullough and Carl Everett 42 and the brotherly combination of Ged and Joe Gaffey from Bolton Old Links on a cpo.
