Cheetham off to a flier THE second half of the Manchester Alliance winter season got off to a superb start being blessed by excellent weather and a well-presented and challenging course at De Vere Wychwood Park. A full field of players enjoyed the day and none more than Styal attached professional Jon Cheetham. Jon, the organiser of the 136 Tour, has been on a crash fitness course in recent weeks and it certainly paid off as he launched himself into the Order of Merit top rankings with a great double. |

Jon was the top individual pro finishes
with a great return of 41 points from a five-under par return of 67. He finished two clear of Scott Howarth (Marple) and Tom Murray (Didsbury). Jon had fine support from his regular Swinton Park partner John Riley to amass 46 points in the pro am section to finish three clear of Peter Barber (Didsbury) and Steve Barber (Castle Hawk) and Scott Howarth and his Mellor and Townscliffe partner Sid Hodkinson. It was closer in the am am section with the consistent Leigh duo of Steve Dagger and Mark Riley top of the shop with 41 points ahead of Stuart Thomasson and Tim Ball (Hart Common) and Dave Rowlands and Andy Collier (Leigh). The amateur prize winners were delighted to receive some top quality Taylor Made products from competition sponsor Stuart Hubbard, a regular supporter of Alliance competitions. |
