Alliance At Shrigley Hall

Great win for Tom

THERE was a very full field of 31 teams for the popular Manchester Alliance Team of Four competition at Barcelo Shrigley Hall.

The hard work put by Shrigley Director of Golf Tim Hudspith and his team is already paying big dividends with the course showing a terrific improvement with some demanding pin positions making good scores hard to come by.

But Gatley professional Tom Bolton put in one of his best rounds in the Alliance with a superb score of 40 points seeing him into the top pro spot ahead of Styal’s Jon Cheetham 39, and Andrew Terry (Springfield Park) 38, with regulars stars such as David Smith, Graham Cox, Danny Wardrop and Phil Archer left trailing in their wake.

The top team was Brackley Golf Club’s amateur team of Rob Taylor, Ray Brough, Simon Cudlip and Marcus Corfield with 82 points winning a cpo from Knutsford pro Tim Maxwell, Moby Rawthore, George Drakonakis and Ross Birch.

Taking the remaining prize with 80 points were Tom Bolton and Gatley colleagues Gordon Scott and Martyn Bonner with Cheshire champion Fraser McLeod from Hazel Grove..
