Park Are The Stars Of The 3D Spectacular |

DAVYHULME Park Golf Club are enjoying a
great Centenary season and they added a major regional trophy to their
honours with a stunning 5-2 win in the Manchester Alliance’s City Glass
Men’s Foursomes final. It was a real 3D final for Davyhulme against former winners Didsbury at the exciting venue of Dukinfield who are justifiably proud of their splendid new clubhouse and redesigned course. Park had built up a 3-2 lead with wins from David Lowe by 2/1 over John Bent and Billy Blissett, Alan Vaughan and Mark Ross by 3/2 over Andy Burns and Neil Higgins and Steve Howells and Bernard Garitty by 5/4 over Tony Taylor and John Kirk. |

| Didsbury replied with wins from Peter Young and Fred Finley by 5/3 over Paul Barton and Howard Jones and Andy Lawman and Peter Mellor by 2/1 over Dave Wood and Steve Chamberlain. |

The final outcome came on the 19th
hole when Mike Wallwork and Geoff Lever, having recovered from being three
down with four to play secured the vital win over John Aikenhead and Chris
Cyprus. The remaining match also went to the 19th with Derrick Page and Paul Greenhalgh prevailing against Paul Sherwood and John Gregory to complete the 5-2 score-line.. Both teams were congratulated by Alliance President John Dowd on reaching the final from an original entry of over 90 clubs and showing great competitive and sporting spirit in an absorbing contest. |
