Barbara’s family has also played a big part in the club’s
recent history with her daughter Jackie being junior organiser when her
three sons Michael, Gareth and Alex were part of a superb junior team which
achieved a great deal of success in the region.
Barbara, whose best-ever handicap was 18, said: "It is a
great honour for myself and for the club to be chosen for this position and
the club will host the Society Foursomes final on August 1 with the
qualifying rounds being staged at Heaton Moor on June 16 and at Houldsworth
on July 18.
Barbara looks forward to an enjoyable year
"Defending their trophy will be Sale duo Sophie Casey and Yvonne Chadwick.
"The new President of the society is Marjorie Warren
of Withington and the Captain elect is Anne Hellawell of Hale.
"Members of the society will soon be receiving entry
forms and can only play in one competition which must not be at their own
club.
"It promises to be a great year and one that I will
enjoy to the full meeting many of my many old friends in golf and making
many more new ones." |
