Albatross Lands For Ace Dalby |
|
|
DIDSBURY team star Paul Dalby has had
many golfing highlights in a distinguished career. But few could surpass his fantastic shot on the first hole at Astbury Golf Club when playing in the Manchester and District Alliance Shotgun Greensome. For Paul’s tee shot on the 282-yard par four hole went straight into the cup for a superb hole-in-one which was also a very rare and huge albatross. Paul was playing with Gatley pro Jon Cheetham in the pro am section of the competition and it left Jon with nothing to do on the hole other than pick the ball out of the hole for five points. |

But it was not quite enough to take them
to victory as they blobbed on the final hole to just miss out on the prizes. Paul said: "Off a slightly forward tee the shot was probably about 272 yards from tee to hole. "I was using ‘Our Driver’ which I share with Seniors Tour pro Andrew Murray and the shot certainly inspired our playing partners James Hopley and RickGuyeski from Hazel Grove who also scored well with an eagle two for four points and eventually pipped us for third place. "It is my second hole-in-one the other coming at Altrincham in a team match for Didsbury." |
