Bringing Golf Into The Schools

Marple Golf Club Professional David Myers goes back to school to bring the game of golf to Primary and Secondary Schools throughout the Stockport area giving over 350 children the chance to sample the game of golf.

David who is recognised as one of the top teaching professionals in our region has been working with eighteen different schools to bring this new and exciting approach to getting started in golf.

Working with The Golf Foundation who for over 50 years have been providing funding and coaching for juniors of all ages both boys and girls, have recently introduced their latest teaching aid Tri-Golf which offers a quick and easy way to understand the skills required to play the game with all the equipment being specially designed to bring a level of instant success.

The Tri-Golf classes which have been taking place at the local schools during the winter months under the guidance of David Myers and the teaching staff from each of the competing schools has proved to be very popular with the demand for places at a premium.

All the students have been competing for a place in their schools team which had the chance to win a coaching course for the team provided by David Myers at Marple Golf Club who have generously offered the use of the clubs facilities for the lucky winners.

The final held at Marple Hall School between the last eight teams all keen to claim the top prize also provided an opportunity for the schools senior students to hone there leadership skills as they took on the roll as instructors for each of the competing teams.

Deputy Head of P.E. at Marple Hall School Justin Wright assisted by Vicky Floyd provided the perfect link between the schools to make the final such a great experience for the competing teams on the day, which produced a worthy winning team from Mellor Primary School who can now look forward to booking their coaching lessons with David Myers at Marple Golf Club.
