She will form a Sandiway double act as the President of the CCLGA is her club colleague Sue Bennett who is completing her second year in the office in 2008.

One of the highlights of Sue’s year as Captain will be the Northern Counties Junior Jamboree in County Durham, where she began her golf.

Sue said: "Basically, I started my golfing life as a junior up in Co Durham at Dinsdale Spa GC, where this summer we return for the Northern Counties Junior Jamboree!!  

"Back in the middle 1960s we got 20 two-hour lessons on a Saturday morning with the assistant pro for a guinea!!!! 

"Later after leaving college I joined Wimbledon Park GC in Surrey, where I met my husband, an ex-Surrey colt.

"I joined the Cheshire Ladies Executive in 1992 and became one of their competition secretaries, on the retirement of Merle Birkhead.   

"I got down to an 8 handicap a few years ago, but currently play off 12.
