The 2008 Houldsworth Cup which attracted 190 players from
20 different clubs all looking to get their names on this wonderful trophy
at Stand Golf Club. The eventual winners Mark Turner and Ian Taylor from Swinton Park who carded a 4 up score to take the title from Craig Cuthbert and John Liwosz on 3 up from Prestwich. Prestwich also provided the third place pairing of Barry and Paul Cuthbert coming home 2 up. Fourth place with a creditable score of all square was the Chorlton pairing of Peter McManus and Andrew Hughes who topped the list of competitors on all square on a cpo count back. |

Mark Turner a regular player in the B&H Events now has his
second title after winning the G.S. Lancashire Mixed Event in 2006 with
Frances Richards. Mark thanked the B&H Committee for all the hard work that is required to put on such an event on a superbly presented golf course which the Stand Golf Club had set up for the playing of the Houldsworth Cup. Mark also thanked his playing partner Ian Taylor and paid tribute to their playing partners Craig Cuthbert and John Liwosz who did not have the benefit of the extra shots on the day. |
